The Dangers of Snowshoeing

Yesterday, we went snowshoeing with my sister and her husband. We had a great time. After hiking for a couple of hours, Jeff made us hot chocolate while we dug out seats in the snow with his snow shovel. As we were hiking back to the car, we came across a group crossing a stream on a narrow bridge of snow. One of their large, male companions stepped off the trail and fell through the snow getting stuck in the logs below. Jeff quickly joined the others to help lift him out. Luckily the guy was fine. It was a good reminder of how dangerous it can be when you are snowshoeing. I love having Jeff around because he is always educating me on outdoor safety and he always carries a pack with everything he would need in the event of an emergency. Before heading back home, we ate an early dinner at the Family Pancake house. Afterwards we spent the rest of the evening playing Rockband at my sister's house. Fun day with the family and glad the guy wasn't injured in his fall.
